Out Without a Bang: No New Years Fireworks Allowed in Knoxville

Knoxville residents may be looking forward to a raucous celebration to mark the arrival of 2019; but they won’t be able to do so with the help of firecrackers, rockets or any other type of fireworks.

While other towns permit setting off fireworks to celebrate the New Year, police in Knoxville remind the residents here that doing so on New Year’s Eve, or almost any other day, is illegal.

Local ordinances prohibit the use of fireworks anywhere within the city limits; the only exception is on the Fourth of July.
