Holiday Materials Can Be Recycled Rather Than Thrown Away

When presents are opened up next week, much of the packaging and wrapping materials will be thrown away, when they could be recycled.

Sarah Rosenberger with TRM Disposal in Indianola tells KNIA News what is most often thrown away that shouldn’t be.

“I always see wrapping paper in the garbage, and wrapping paper is recyclable as long as it doesn’t have the metal finish to it. Wrapping paper, boxes, and oftentimes people throw ribbons away when they can be used again or given to kids. Try to throw away as little as possible.”

Rosenberger also said that Christmas trees will not be picked up by the garbage trucks, and can be disposed of by bringing it to a local pond or other specified disposal site.
