Knoxville Boys Come Back; Girls Check Off Another Conference Foe

For three quarters, the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad looked like it was not their night as the Panthers were down by 15 points at one time to Centerville, but the Panthers caught fire and came from behind to beat The Big Reds 76-71. Leading the charge was Elliott Schmidt with a career high 34 points on eight three point splashdowns. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports a change of the defense to speed up Centerville was the right adjustment. Knoxville improves to 5-2 on the season. For the girls it was business as usual, and so far this season, business has been winning by comfortable margins in South Central Conference play. A big second quarter allowed Knoxville to open the gap from eight to 18 and coast to a 58-39 win. Katie Keitges scored 29 points to lead the Panthers who are now 8-0 on the season and finish the first half of the South Central Conference 6-0. Both Panther teams will close out the first half of the season Friday at Bondurant-Farrar.
