Indianola City Council Uses Work Session to Set Budget Prioritization Items

A work session was held Monday evening with the Indianola City Council, city staff, and residents to review results of a survey given out on budget prioritizations.

City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News getting the council and staff on the same page early on makes the process as easy as possible.

“January is a key date for us because we will get valuation numbers from the county, so having budget prioritizations set now for the council to give direction to staff what things will get pushed and what can make it into the budget. We obviously want to get the council’s input on the front end rather than the back end and have to make changes.”

Public safety, a school resource officer, and city facilities were at the top of the survey. Nothing official has been decided by the council, and Waller said this was merely a small step in a long process.
