Delays Possible in Processes for Filing 2018 Taxes

A local CPA says this upcoming filing season could have various delays as it relates to the filing and refund processes.

Brett Nikkel with Van Maanen, Sietstra, Meyer and Nikkel tells KRLS News the changes to the federal tax code and other general delays in the processing of returns at the IRS and State Treasurer’s Office will likely slow down many refunds from coming back in efficient fashion.

Nikkel says that shouldn’t stop people from preparing to file as soon as possible, as doing so can help eliminate the possibility of others trying to claim a return fraudulently. He reminds everyone to gather all financial documentation from the previous 12 months to ensure any filings at the state and federal levels will be a more efficient process.
