Pella City Council to Consider Streetscape Master Plan Tuesday

The Pella City Council will consider adopting the Streetscape master plan at their meeting Tuesday.

A resolution on the agenda, if approved, would set the guides for the first four phases of over $16 million in infrastructure and street improvements in the central business district, with the first $10.6 million in projects scheduled over the next four summers. RDG Planning and Design drafted the document with the guidance of a steering committee made up of Pella-area businesses, government officials, industry, and other stakeholders, as well as from input gathered at several public meetings and work sessions over the past six months.

The master plan includes guidance about the types of improvements the council would like to see to sidewalks and crosswalks in addition to the streets, sewer, and water main upgrades along Franklin, Broadway, and Main Streets. The Pella City Council is already starting the process of drafting plans and a contract to begin the Streetscape with the Oost Poort alleyway after Tulip Time in 2019.

Their meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street.
