Pella School Board Approves Full Time Resource Officer; New Stadium Video Board

The Pella School Board approved a sharing agreement with the City of Pella for a school resource officer at their meeting Thursday.

The board reviewed the agreement which would dedicate an officer of the Pella Police Department to meet and work with students in the district on a full-time basis. Officer Nathan Wolff is already serving as a school liaison officer by frequently visiting both Pella and Pella Christian schools, but it has been in a part-time role in addition to his patrol duties.

Both school systems plan to combine to fund half of the cost with the Pella School District paying approximately 90% of the costs from their at-risk fund, with the city handling the rest. If the Pella City Council approves, that would make Wolff dedicated to the schools full-time by the beginning of the next school year in August, according to Chief Robert Bokinsky.
They also approved a $220,000 donation from Precision Pulley and Idler for a new video board and sound upgrades at the football stadium. Athletic Director Dale Otte said at the meeting it could be installed as soon as next summer, and be ready for use by football season in August.
