Communications Tower Up for Discussion by Marion County Board of Supervisors

The second reading of an ordinance covering the construction of a communications tower near Bussey is on the agenda for Tuesday morning’s Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting.

The 300 foot guyed wire tower is slated to go into an area zoned for agricultural use; the application from FTC Tower Company seeks to have the location re-zoned to accommodate this usage.

But several nearby residents have objected to the proposal for a tower near their property, either on general principle or because they dislike the companies which would be using it.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Mark Raymie noted at the last meeting these reasons wouldn’t provide legal justification for the board to reject the application; but final vote was delayed in part to enable all parties to have a say.

The board will also discuss a proposal to build a storm shelter at the Marion County Emergency Services office.

The Board of Supervisors meeting will convene Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
