Trojans Fall to Cardinals on the Road

The Pleasantville Trojans boys and girls basketball teams were swept on the road Friday as the Earlham Cardinals dispatched the Trojans 36-24 in the girls game and 59-46 in the boys contest.

In the girls game sloppy play and turnovers on both teams was the name of the game as Earlham turned a 16-13 halftime lead into a 27-19 advantage to begin the 4th quarter as they outscored the Trojans 11-2 to start the 3rd quarter. Pleasantville drops to 4-2 on the year and will next face West Central Valley on Tuesday as they still look for their first win inside the West Central Conference.

On the boys side the young Trojans would fall behind by 10 at the half 33-23 and just could not overcome the deficit only closing within 6 the rest of the game before falling by 13. Pleasntville falls to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the West Central Conference Head Coach Joel Allman tells KNIA/KRLS Sports playing in a new conference with a young team makes things even more difficult as older teams can make adjustments on the fly but younger teams need good scouting reports and good scouting reports are hard to come by when joining an new conference. The Trojans who started two sophomores, two juniors and one senior on the night had no player score more than 9 points while allowing to Cardinal players senior Trent Williamson and sophomore TJ Harkins to score 18 and 15 points respectfully.
