A doubleheader that was scheduled for Saturday and postponed to Monday ended up in a sweep for the Simpson College basketball teams, the women winning 81-64 and the men 94.69.
The Storm women traded blows with the Norse early before a 25-11 second quarter run gave them a 47-31 lead at half that they would not relinquish. Cassie Chubb led the Storm off the bench with 14 points, while Jenna Taylor nabbed 11 rebounds. On the men’s side, the Storm blew the doors off in the first half going for 57 points while holding a struggling Norse squad to just 27. Luther ended up winning the second half battle 42-39 but by then the damage was too much. A balanced scoring attack saw Conor Riordan score 17 while Adam Reiter scored 15. Both Storm teams move on to play Buena Vista in conference action at home tomorrow.
