Former Pella Athletes Nearly Shock Iowa State in Drake’s Final Football Game of 2018

Drake’s football team, an FCS non-scholarship program, nearly shell-shocked the No. 24 ranked in FBS Iowa State Cyclones, falling at Jack Trice Stadium 27-24 Saturday.

Former Pella athletes Nathan Clayberg and Will Warner each started in the game designed as the Cyclones’ 12th after their home opener was cancelled. The Pioneer Football League defensive player of the year, Nathan Clayberg racked up 3 tackles and a quarterback hit, while Will Warner collected five solo tackles from the safety position. Drake finishes the season 7-4, with Clayberg graduating this spring, and Warner returning next fall.
