The Warren County congregate meals site, which also includes meals on wheels deliveries, is looking for any seniors who want to receive a healthy meal to join them at the Warren County Administration Building.
Site Director Jo Birmingham tells KNIA News the congregate meals site begins serving lunch at 11:45am but people start to drift in around 10am to socialize, which is just as important as receiving a healthy meal.
“It becomes like a family here, where people can show up five times a week to not only get food but to get out of the house. I’ve been here 19 years, and I notice that if we are ever closed for some reason I get texts and calls making sure we will be open the next day, and I know they call their friends just to talk because that’s important and good for them to keep up.”
Birmingham also said that the meals on wheels deliveries are run by volunteers, and if you wish to volunteer to contact the congregate meals site. The meals are served Monday-Friday in the old auditorium.
