Giving Tree Available at Knoxville Public Library for Book Donors

The Giving Tree is up and in use at the Knoxville Public Library; its temporary home at the former East Elementary School will again offer patrons the opportunity to select a book in honor of a loved one, and help expand the library’s collection.

This year instead of an actual Christmas tree the staff has used a paper and decorations to put a tree on one of the walls for the library.

Roslin Thompson from the Knoxville Public Library tells KNIA/KRLS News the books available are nearby, ready for selection.

“We put down titles of books that people can choose to give as a gift in honor or in memory of someone they love,” Thompson says. “It’s been a wonderful way for us to add to our collection; and it’s mostly children’s books.”

Donors can come in anytime during regular business hours; they may select one of the books, fill out a form and give it to the librarian along with their payment.

They can then check it out themselves, or leave it for other library users to check out.
